Skyrme-based extrapolation for the static response of neutron matter

The study of inhomogeneous neutron matter can provide insights into the structure stars as well their dynamics in neutron-star mergers. In this work we tackle pure presence a periodic external field by considering finite (but potentially large) number particles placed boundary conditions. We start with simpler setting noninteracting gas and then switch to Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approach, showing static-response results for five distinct Skyrme parametrizations. explain both technical details our computational significance these general finite-size extrapolation scheme that may be used ab initio practitioners approach problem thermodynamic limit.
